CleanTechnology, Inc. ("we," "us," or "our") operates the CleanPhone Setup application and the CleanBrowser application (collectively, the "Apps"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use our Apps. CleanPhone Setup is a parental control and mobile device management (MDM) enrollment agent designed to help parents monitor and manage their child's mobile device. CleanBrowser is a privacy-focused web browser that enforces parental content filtering policies, including URL blocking, category-based filtering, and search query logging.

CleanPhone is not a phone carrier

CleanPhone is a parental-controls app and phone bundle, not a phone carrier. Your purchase does not include a phone plan, SIM card, cellular data, or service. An active plan from a carrier is required to use the phone. The device is unlocked and compatible with most major carriers.

Information that your carrier collects in connection with the plan you purchase from them (such as call detail records, data usage, and billing information) is governed by that carrier's own privacy policy, not this one. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by our Apps and websites as described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Device Information

We collect the following device identifiers and metadata:

  • Android ID - a unique device identifier
  • IMEI - International Mobile Equipment Identity number
  • WiFi MAC Address - hardware network address
  • Device Model - manufacturer and model name
  • App Version - the installed version of the CleanPhone Setup app
  • Timezone - the device's current timezone setting

1.2 SMS and Text Messages

With your explicit consent, we collect:

  • Phone numbers of senders and recipients
  • Full message body content
  • Read/unread status
  • Date and time of each message
  • Message type (sent or received)
  • Conversation thread identifiers

1.3 Call Log Data

With your explicit consent, we collect:

  • Phone numbers involved in calls
  • Call type (incoming, outgoing, or missed)
  • Date and time of each call
  • Call duration

1.4 Contacts Data

With your explicit consent, we collect:

  • Phone numbers and names of contacts to associate with messages and calls

1.5 Location Data

With your explicit consent, we collect:

  • GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
  • Location accuracy data
  • Location is collected both when the App is in the foreground and in the background

1.6 App Usage and Screen Time

With your explicit consent, we collect:

  • Names and package identifiers of applications used on the device
  • Time spent in each application (foreground usage)
  • Usage statistics aggregated on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis

1.7 Push Notification Tokens

We utilize Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) registration tokens to enable push notifications and remote sync triggers with your CleanPhone Device(s).

1.8 Crash and Analytics Data

We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to collect:

  • Crash reports and diagnostic logs
  • General app usage analytics

1.9 Browsing Data (CleanBrowser)

When you use CleanBrowser, we collect the following browsing-related information:

  • URLs Visited - the full URL and domain of pages loaded in the browser
  • Search Queries - text entered into the browser's search bar
  • Block Events - whether a page was blocked and the reason (e.g., category, blocklist, internet disabled)
  • Domain Classifications - the assigned content category and restriction weight of visited domains
  • Device Hardware MAC Address - used to authenticate the device with our servers via a secure token

Browsing data is logged to our servers to enable parental visibility into browsing activity and to enforce content policies. This data is not used for advertising or sold to third parties.

2. How We Collect Information

  • Consent-Gated Collection: Before any personal data is collected, you must review our Data Disclosure and explicitly tap "Consent." All data collection is gated by this consent. No SMS, call log, location, or screen time data is collected until consent is granted.
  • Periodic Sync: Once consent is granted, the App syncs data to our servers approximately every 15 minutes via Android WorkManager.
  • Background Collection: The App operates a foreground service that continues to collect and transmit data even when the App is not actively open. The App also resumes data collection after device reboot.
  • Push-Triggered Sync: Our servers may trigger an immediate data sync via push notification.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • Parental Monitoring: To provide parents with visibility into their child's device usage, communications, location, app activity, and web browsing through the CleanPhone parent portal.
  • Content Filtering: To enforce parental content policies in CleanBrowser, including blocking websites by category, domain blocklists/allowlists, and restricting internet access.
  • Browsing Activity Logging: To log visited URLs, search queries, and block events so parents can review their child's browsing activity and understand what content was restricted.
  • Device Management: To enroll and manage the device under the CleanPhone MDM system, including linking the device to a parent account.
  • App Functionality: To authenticate the device with our servers, maintain secure communication, and deliver push notifications.
  • Service Improvement: To diagnose crashes, improve app stability, and enhance the overall service.

We do not use the collected data for advertising, marketing to children, or selling data to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • All data is transmitted to our servers over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
  • Data is sent to our backend API hosted at our secure servers.
  • Authentication tokens (JWT) are stored locally on the device in SharedPreferences.
  • We implement reasonable security measures to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.
  • Data is stored in our PostgreSQL database with soft-delete practices and UTC timestamps.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • With Parents/Guardians: The primary purpose of the App is to share device activity data with the parent or guardian who enrolled the device.
  • Service Providers: We use the following third-party services that may process data on our behalf:
    • Google Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, Cloud Messaging) - for crash reporting, analytics, and push notifications
    • Google Play Services - for location services
    • DuckDuckGo - CleanBrowser is built on DuckDuckGo's open-source browser engine, which provides built-in tracker blocking and HTTPS enforcement. Browsing data processed by the DuckDuckGo engine stays on-device and is not transmitted to DuckDuckGo.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

6. Data Retention

  • We retain collected data for as long as the device is enrolled in the CleanPhone service.
  • When a device is unenrolled or the account is deleted, associated data will be removed in accordance with our data retention practices.
  • Crash reports and analytics data are retained according to Firebase's standard retention policies.
  • Cancellation and Factory Reset: You may cancel the CleanPhone service at any time. Canceling requires performing a factory reset on the device. A factory reset removes the CleanPhone Setup app and all data it stored locally on the device, unenrolls the device from CleanPhone management, and stops all further data collection and transmission. You keep the physical device. Data already synced to our servers is then handled as described in this section.

7. Children's Privacy

This App is designed to be installed on a child's device by a parent or guardian. We recognize the sensitive nature of collecting data from devices used by minors.

  • The App requires parental setup and consent before any data collection begins.
  • Data collected is made available only to the parent or guardian who enrolled the device.
  • We comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parental consent.

8. Your Rights and Choices

  • Consent: You may review the Data Disclosure before granting consent. Data collection does not begin until you explicitly consent.
  • Access: Parents can view all collected data through the CleanPhone parent portal at my.cleanphone.info.
  • Deletion: You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at the address below.
  • Unenrollment: Removing the device from CleanPhone management will stop further data collection.

10. Website Cookies and Tracking

This section covers the CleanPhone website at phone.cleanrouter.com. It is separate from the CleanPhone app described above. Analytics runs when you load the site, until you opt out. Use Your Privacy Choices in the footer to opt out. That choice is stored in a cookie named wa_optout. On the next page load we do not load Google Analytics or other vendor tags, and we expire the analytics cookies we can remove. The first-party analytics snippet also stops recording page views and events when that cookie is set.

The site also keeps the landing page query string in session storage under the key cp_attribution for the current browser tab. That value is added to Buy links so referral and ad click ids reach checkout. It is not a cookie, and it is cleared when the tab session ends. Google click ids (gclid, gbraid, and wbraid) are also copied into a first-party cookie named cp_click_ids for 90 days so a later checkout in this browser can still be tied to that ad click. Your Privacy Choices deletes that cookie.

10.1 Your privacy choice

Name Set by Purpose Duration
wa_optout This site Records that you opted out of analytics from Your Privacy Choices. A value of 1 stops vendor tags and first-party event recording. Until the choice dialog expires it, or you clear site data

10.2 Analytics

Set while analytics is allowed (measurement ID G-2WVGWDZQ2V). Removed after you opt out, where the browser lets us delete them.

Name Set by Purpose Duration
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes one visitor from another. 2 years
_ga_2WVGWDZQ2V Google Analytics Holds session state for the GA4 property. 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes visitors. 24 hours
_gcl_aw Google Stores a Google click id when the visit includes gclid, so the session can be tied to that ad click. 90 days
cp_click_ids This site Keeps gclid, gbraid, and wbraid so checkout can attach the ad click to the order. Deleted when you opt out. 90 days

Recipient: Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. Data may be transferred outside the EEA under Google's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can opt out globally at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

10.3 Managing Your Choice

You can opt out at any time with Your Privacy Choices in the website footer. Opting out stops further analytics on the next page load and removes the analytics cookies we are able to remove. There is no separate cookie banner. The parent portal at my.cleanphone.info is a different site and is not covered by this website choice.

11. Data Storage Warning

We are a mobile device management provider, not a cloud backup service like Google Services. Users should rely on Google Services or another cloud storage provider of their choice to back up photos, contacts, or other data.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
